Unexpectedly, several leaders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ukwa West LGA have publicly stated that they are willing to back Governor Alex Otti above their own parties.

The leaders spoke at St. Ann Secondary School in Obehie during the flag-off of the construction of the Obehie-Umudobia-Owaza road. Among them were former Commissioner Victoria Akanwa, former Secretary to the Abia State government Ralph Egbu, and Okechi Etche Adinigwe Nwoke.

In 2027, they promised, Otti and his Labour Party will not suffer the same defeat as in 2023.

Ralph Egbu, the former secretary to the Abia State government, spoke on the future of the local government that produces oil. He claimed that his people were gaining advantages from the current leadership in the state and that they were forced to back the governor.

According to the leaders of the PDP and APGA, being members of the opposition parties would not stop them from appreciating the current work being done for the people of Ukwa West by the Abia State government.

In response, Otti greeted the interested parties and characterized them as successful men, promising to completely integrate them into his Labour Party in due course.

“And you spoke very very well. We do not take it for granted and in due course we will receive you even in a better fashion,” Gov. Otti stated.

Recall that Adolphus Wabara, the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), was recently dismissed by the Abia State chapter of the party for reportedly recommending Governor Otti for a second term in office.
