One year after his death, Chief (Engr. Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the late revered statesman and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, had his final will and testament read to his family. It is said to contain a contentious clause.

Before her death on August 28, 2011, at the age of 63, Chief Iwuanyanwu was married to his first wife, Lady Eudora Nnenna Ozinyereaku Iwuanyanwu, for more than 40 years.

Then, in 2013, 72-year-old Chief Iwuanyanwu wed Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem, age 26. He left behind a 37-year-old widow when he passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 82. They had a son together.

TheWill News Media released the purported will of late Chief Iwuanyanwu on June 16, 2025.

The publication claims that Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN) executed the will, which specifies how the renowned politician and businessman’s estate will be divided among his immediate family and designated recipients.

She was given possession of the famous “Legacy House” on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, with the explicit directive that it be kept intact and not given to anybody else.

In addition, Frances inherited a portion of estates in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze in Imo State, as well as Magil Furniture, which had been run by the late Eudora, Chief Iwuanyanwu’s first wife.

However, there is a personal condition attached to the inheritance: if you decide to get married again, you will automatically forfeit these assets.

The house in Abuja was given to their son, and a London property is set to go up for sale. The following is how the proceeds are to be split: Ten percent will go to Ezinne, who now resides at the London property, to help find a new home, thirty percent will go to his first son, Jide, and sixty percent will finance the education of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son.

His enduring legacy calls for the “Glass House” beside the Orji overpass to be transformed into a public trust, governed by an impartial board and devoted to neighborhood-focused projects.

His five children, who have characterized the Will as “fair and dignified,” received an equitable share of other properties located in Abuja, Imo, and throughout Nigeria.
