The state government’s assertion that they have not yet received the letter about the House’s resolution has been refuted by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
According to the Speaker’s principal secretary, who spoke to Channels Television, the FedEx courier service delivered the letter to Government House on March 3rd. However, when the courier reached the gate, the staff received a call from within the building instructing them to return the letter to the sender rather than accept it.
This came after the Rivers State House of Assembly decided on Monday to give Governor Fubara 48 hours to send them the 2025 appropriations bill.
However, the state government stated that the letter with their resolution has not yet been formally received.
A letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Tammy Danagogo read in part: “As at the close of work on Tuesday 4th March, 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter. Neither the office of the Governor, nor the Deputy Governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the State has received the said letter.”
