Rivers Deputy Gov, Prof Odu speaks about resigning from office

Prof. Ngozi Odu, the deputy governor of Rivers State, has called social media allegations that she resigned from her position “malicious speculation” and rejected them.

Odu reportedly resigned, according to rumors, especially on Facebook, which fueled conjecture about strife in Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s government.

Owupele Benebo, her media assistant, refuted the allegations in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, describing them as false and deceptive.

Odu’s role as deputy governor was reiterated by Benebo, who also emphasized her steadfast support for the Fubara-led government.

The deputy governor stressed that she has not resigned and has no plans to do so, and she asked the people to ignore the untrue rumors.

The statement read, “The Office of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State wishes to categorically debunk the false and misleading reports suggesting that Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has resigned.

“Contrary to these baseless claims, Her Excellency remains committed to her duties as Deputy Governor, a position she was duly elected to serve alongside His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Executive Governor of Rivers State.

“As a seasoned public servant and academic, Prof. Odu is dedicated to supporting the governor in his efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Rivers State.

“Her exemplary leadership and expertise remain invaluable to the administration, and she is unwavering in her commitment to His Excellency, Sir Dr. Siminalayi Fubara.”
