According to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, certain residents’ attempts to promote peace in the state are progressively having the desired effect.
The governor said that only in an environment of harmony and stability could real development flourish in a statement released on Saturday by his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
Fubara made this statement at a civic gathering organized at Government Secondary School in the Akabuka village of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area in honor of his Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu.
The governor said he was heartened by the increasing indications of unity and reconciliation throughout the state and urged people to completely embrace peace so that development initiatives can flourish.
“We can’t develop in an environment of chaos. We can’t attract any project to Akabuka when there is a problem.
“Our disposition has always been towards maintaining peace because it is the only way we can move forward,” he said.
