Rivers: Police arrest pastor for flogging 20 children during ‘spiritual cleansing’

Rivers State Police Command agents have detained a pastor named Ifediorah Onyeibor Joseph on suspicion of dehumanizing children, especially minors.

Following the release of the upsetting video online, the 20 children were rescued, according to a statement released by SP Grace Iringe-Oko, the command spokesman.

She clarified that the pastor had planned a three-day event for the church’s kids as a “spiritual cleaning.”

The preacher allegedly claimed to have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to perform the alleged spiritual cleansing on the defenseless children, according to the police.

“Upon receiving this information, Operatives from the Rivers State Police Command, through coordinated intelligence, arrested the pastor and several Church members at the scene.

“A thorough investigation is currently underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding this incident. Further updates will be made public as more information becomes available”, she added.
