Ronaldo, Mbappe, Messi make shortlist for FIFA FIFPro Team of the Year

Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward for Al Nassr, is one of 23 players that make up the shortlist for the FIFPro team of the year.

Despite no longer being a player in Europe, Ronaldo was chosen. However, with 54 goals for club and country in 2023, the 38-year-old top as the world’s highest goalscorer in football.

Nine players from Manchester City’s championship-winning squad also qualify.

Leading the City stars is Erling Haaland, who netted 52 goals in 53 games during the previous season.

The others are Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Kyle Walker, and Rodri.

Ilkay Gundogan, a summer transfer to Barcelona, has also made the short list after winning all three titles as Man City’s team captain.

Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, who join Walker and Stones, represent England.

Lionel Messi has made the FIFPro team of the year sixteen times, and he may be able to continue his record.
