On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that Russia’s military continues to face shortages of certain weapons, such as drones, despite a significant boost in production.

Speaking during a session of the state Military-Industrial Commission, Putin noted that nearly all defense manufacturers had fulfilled their production targets in the previous year.

“For example, production of weapons, communications, reconnaissance and electronic warfare systems more than doubled. The troops received over 4,000 units of armoured weapons, 180 combat aircraft and helicopters,” he said.

He pointed out that more than 1.5 million drones of different categories had been made, including nearly 4,000 FPV drones small, precise models used for targeted strikes.

“I know very well, and many here who are participating in our meeting today know it as well as I do: there are still not enough of these weapons. Not enough.

“I am sure that all plans to increase production of the necessary equipment, in this case drones, will certainly be fulfilled. They are eagerly awaiting them on the front,” he added.

Putin’s remarks made it clear that Russia plans to further increase arms manufacturing as the war in Ukraine moves into its fourth year, even as dialogue continues with the U.S. about a possible resolution to the conflict.
