Sunday Ude-Okoye has been confirmed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party’s legitimate national secretary.

PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba made this announcement on Tuesday, stating that the party upheld Ude-Okoye in accordance with an order from the Court of Appeal.

Speaking to reporters at the PDP’s Abuja National Secretariat, Ologunagba stated that the party has received the court’s decision confirming Ude-Okoye’s appointment as National Secretary.

Ologunagba asserts that the PDP plans to completely implement the court’s orders.

He said: “I’m sure you know the background to all the cases where we have two cases, two orders and then there was the court of appeal.

“And on 24th of December, 2024, after consultation with the legal adviser, the office of the legal adviser, it was confirmed that we have received the judgment of the two appeals affirming Rt. Hon S.K.E Ude-Okoye as the national secretary of the party.

“As a party, we are rule-of-law compliant, we have received the judgement of the court of appeal that has affirmed Rt. Hon S.K.E Ude-Okoye as the national secretary of PDP and we as a party are bound by that judgement because it is the highest judgement today.

“And we will take appropriate action as required of a responsible political party to ensure that the position of the law is complied with.”

The announcement essentially puts an end to Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s claims to the PDP’s National Secretary position.

Citing a recent Court of Appeal ruling, Ude-Okoye recently announced his appointment as the PDP National Secretary.

The change comes after the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, upheld the proposal to replace Anyanwu with the former PDP National Youth Leader.

On December 20, 2024, the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, validated the ruling of an Enugu High Court that confirmed Udo-Okoye as Anyanwu’s successor.
