The Senator representing Ebonyi Central Zone, Senator Ken Eze, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of 13 individuals in the Nkalaha Amegu community, located in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, which occurred on Sunday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Senator called the attack both inhumane and tragic, vowing to work towards bringing those responsible to justice.

According to him: “It is with profound sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in the devastating and deadly attack on the people of Amagu-Nkalaha in Ishielu LGA, Ebonyi Central Senatorial District of Ebonyi State on Monday, which claimed many lives and properties, with many others currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

“This is a moment of grief for us all, and I share in your pain. I’m deeply saddened and condemn in the strongest terms this dastardly act. I want to assure the people of Amagu-Nkalaha that we’re together in this difficult time, and together we shall navigate through it.”

Senator Eze pointed out that the tragic event highlights the critical need for better intelligence gathering by security forces to prevent such incidents in the future.

“This tragic event emphasizes the pressing need for heightened awareness and effective intelligence gathering by our security agencies to detect and stop such heinous acts before they occur. I call on all relevant security bodies to ensure that those responsible for this crime are held accountable,” he stated.

“My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Once again, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, and I pray that God grants them the strength to endure this immense loss and that the injured recover swiftly,” Senator Eze added.

He praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for his prompt action to prevent further violence and restore peace in the region.

Senator Eze also urged the people of Ishielu Council Area to stay calm and peaceful, reassuring them that all necessary measures are in place to ensure justice is served.
