Maduka Okoye, goalkeeper for Udinese and Nigeria, is facing the possibility of a four-year suspension over allegations of sporting fraud.
Italian authorities have referred the 25-year-old to the disciplinary commission, with the case being treated as sporting fraud rather than a standard betting violation.
Okoye is accused of intentionally earning a yellow card during the 64th minute of a Serie A fixture against Lazio, which took place at the Dacia Arena on March 11, 2024.
At the time of the booking, Udinese were leading 2-1, and the caution was reportedly issued for time-wasting.
Alongside Okoye, three associates are also under investigation in connection with the incident.
The former Watford shot-stopper signed with Udinese in the summer of 2023.
