A frightening video of a Nigerian man getting detained for allegedly abusing his wife in front of his own mother, only four days after she gave birth, has gone viral online.
Videos posted on social media site X (previously Twitter) showed the man being challenged by police after he confessed to fighting with his wife.
Voices in the background indicated the mother was on oxygen and had trouble breathing, while a lady who appeared to be a relative was seen carrying the baby.
Since then, the video has gone viral, sparking fury on social media, with many people demanding justice and prompt action from the authorities.
See some reactions below:
@LaughNLearnX: “Any man who lays his hands on a woman or engages in domestic violence has lost all sense of responsibility and respect. There’s no justification for such behaviour, it’s shameful.”
@Alabisznwtf: “Beating a woman who just brought life into the world? That’s not rage. That’s evil. Lock him away and throw the cell into the sea.”
@badablestarlove: “He deserves it . Hmmm both man and woman dey go through a lot from irresponsible humans.”
@shegzedon: “Even though some women can be annoying they need to jail the man.”
@justkency: “This is crazy. I think fathers should advise boys, as well as mothers, that women are reckless with the tongue, and no matter how the words cut deep into the soul, just ignore her. Married men know this. You can’t just assault your wife except you want to catch a criminal case.”
@MisterBWO: “Imagine beating someone who gave birth to your child What are you gonna tell him if he grows up.”
@gurl_lambo: “What sort of people are you guys marrying these days biko????”
