Shocking public flogging in Indonesia: Couple punished for premarital sex

An Indonesian couple was publicly flogged 100 times for engaging in premarital sex, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

As reported by a local journalist cited by the Daily Mail, the police administered the punishment in a public park, where the couple was among six people who received similar treatment that day.

Earlier in January, another couple in Aceh received 140 lashes for the same offense, in a region where Sharia law has been in effect since 2015. Aceh is the only province in Indonesia where Sharia is legally enforced.
