A video that shows Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu having difficulty walking during Pope Leo XIV’s inaugural ceremony at the Vatican has gone viral. In the video, President Tinubu, aged 73, was seen navigating the arena with the help of his son, Seyi Tinubu.
On Sunday, May 18, 2025, a number of international leaders attended the ceremony.
Discussions over the President’s fitness and health have been sparked by the social media viral video, which is thought to have been taken by an attendee.
Despite the incident, President Tinubu attended the ceremony and spoke privately with Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, the president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria. In his speech, he underlined how crucial it is to accept Nigeria’s religious and cultural diversity as a unifying factor.
