Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has charged that certain governors are to blame for the ongoing political unrest in Rivers State.
Wike blamed some governors’ influence for the confrontation between him and Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor, during a media briefing on Monday.
The minister made fun of Fubara, claiming that those who pushed him are still enjoying their seats while he is out in the cold. The minister visited Fubara with two governors from the All Progressives Congress, or APC, to confirm that he has started a peace drive.
“Governors came pushing him, where are they now? I think the governors are enjoying their own.
“Fubara is a young man, I warned him saying, look, go this way, go this way and you will not have problems.”
Wike added that the problem might not be resolved even if President Bola Tinubu’s state of emergency is lifted.
He said, “Assuming that we don’t settle this problem and the state of emergency is called off, has it ended the problems? No, because the Assembly will still be as firm as they have been.
“So the crisis will still be there, they will not pass your budget.”
