Eleven students have been rusticated and eight expelled from Southern Delta University, SDU, Ozoro, located in the Lsoko North local government region.

Gross misconduct, kidnapping, attempted murder, theft, altering bank drafts, fabricating school receipts, exam malpractice, fighting, stabbing fellow students, and other actions deemed to be against the students’ matriculation oath were the reasons for their punishment.

According to a formal bulletin issued by the administration on July 4, 2025, eight of the 19 students who had committed various offenses were ejected from the school, while the remaining eleven were rusticated for a period of two semesters apiece.

While individuals who have been rusticated are expected to leave the university and their residence halls for the semesters they are to observe, the management also cautioned that expelled students no longer belong to the university and should not be found within or around the university community.

The release also includes a strong warning to students about planning illegal parties, dousing classmates with water, and signing their names on their shirts during the signing-out process, as the school’s first graduation ceremony approaches. It also states that anyone found to be involved will face appropriate consequences.
