When they searched a 25-year-old man named Samson Oghenebreme, who attracted their attention for acting intoxicated in the Epe region of the state, detectives from the Odo-Noforija Division of the Lagos State Police Command found an unexpected discovery.

He allegedly claimed to have harvested human organs from recently excavated tombs in Edo State and carried them in a bag.

According to a source, the suspect acknowledged trafficking human organs from accident victims’ severed bodies that were left on the side of the road.

“He claimed that he got the human organ found on him when he was arrested from a freshly dug grave in Edo State,” the police source added.

To get away with it, he had hidden the organ in a backpack and pretended to be a tourist.

The suspect’s statements were rejected by another police source, who maintained that Samson’s first plan was to utilize the organ for a money ritual prior to his detention.

According to the source, the suspect may be a member of a network of young males who are obsessed with money rituals and want to “get rich quick syndrome.”

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, the 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody by members of the Odo-Noforija Division in the Odomola village of Epe for possessing human organs.

According to Hundeyin, he was arrested on April 25, 2025, after receiving reliable information from the public on the suspect’s questionable behavior.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was transporting the organs from Edo State to a native doctor for the purpose of money-making rituals.

“The recovered human organs have been deposited at the General Hospital, Epe, for preservation while the case has been transferred to the Edo State Police Command for continuation of investigation and prosecution,” he added.
