A suspected Boko Haram logistics provider has been taken into custody by Operation Hadin Kai troops in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, with assistance from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Following reliable human intelligence, Ahmadu Mohammed Dogo, the suspect, was captured at Muna Garage on Monday at approximately 11:50 a.m.
According to Zagazola Makama, preliminary investigations showed that the suspect was apprehended while allegedly trying to smuggle Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which was bundled in 12 sacks and hidden in plastic energy drink bottles.
During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted that he was delivering the fuel to Gamboru-Ngala, a border town in Borno State that is said to be a key supply line for rebels operating on the outskirts of the Lake Chad Basin.
The PMS-filled plastic bottles, charms, suspected hard drugs, rings, syringes, and a number of personal belongings were among the items found in his possession.
According to security sources, the arrest is a part of continuing counterterrorism measures to disrupt the financial and logistical networks of Boko Haram in the Northeast.
The suspect is being further questioned while in military detention.
