Teacher killed day after Eid celebration with family after this happened

Just a day after celebrating Eid with loved ones, a tragic incident unfolded in Mokwa, Niger State, as a secondary school teacher, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar Tayi, was discovered dead in his home under disturbing circumstances.

The killing occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, at his residence located along Abattoir Road in Mokwa town.

Local reports indicate that unidentified attackers broke into his home during the night, fatally assaulted him, and fled the scene with his motorcycle.

Neighbors who saw him during the Eid festivities said he appeared joyful and in good health.

“He was full of life yesterday, celebrating with his family and greeting neighbours. We woke up today to hear he’s been killed,” said a grieving resident.

Mallam Mohammed was well-regarded in the community for his dedication to teaching. He worked at the Government Day Secondary School in Kpege, later renamed Bokani Secondary School.

As of the time this report was filed, security operatives have not issued an official statement, and no suspects have been apprehended.
