Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, has asked Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential contender, to explain to the public how he betrayed him after quitting the party.
In an interview with Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program, Okonkwo stated that he never conferred with any of Obi’s opponents before the election.
He said, “When I worked for him, I never consulted any politician. I am making a public statement. I never talked to any political party. I was 100% loyal.
“When I left, I told the whole world…I said from now onward, I am not going to speak for this person again.
“They don’t understand what betrayal means. Anybody who is writing or saying anything about me is a reflection of who that person is; not a reflection of who I am.”
Recall that the fervent Obi fan from the previous election left the Labour Party and the former governor of Anambra in July 2024.
The Nollywood actor-turned-politician had already voiced his displeasure with Obi’s inaction and LP’s internal disputes.
Additionally, he denied that Obi had given him cash or a property during the previous election campaign.
No one fights for God, the lawyer added, adding that he would give Obi the right to voice his opinion.
According to Okonkwo, Obi is implying that he is the Jesus in the parallel since he implied that Jesus had twelve disciples and that one of them betrayed him.
“How can you betray somebody you are not working for,” Okonkwo asked.
