Nigerian artist, Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, outshone her fellow country stars—Davido, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Asake—to win the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Tems’ hit track “Love Me Jeje” triumphed over competition from “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade), “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid), “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and “Higher” (Burna Boy).

“Love Me Jeje,” a rendition of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 song of the same name, has earned widespread praise from global music fans since its release in April.

Tems’ win marks a back-to-back victory for women in this newly introduced category, with South African singer Tyla claiming the inaugural award last year with her global smash “Water.”

However, Tems was unable to secure wins in her two other nominations. She lost the Best R&B Song award to SZA’s “Saturn” and the Best Global Music Album to Matt B featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s “Alkebulan II.”
