The foundation’s relief efforts bring solace to Central Texas Communities affected by devastating floods

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country (CFTHC) has made significant strides in its Kerr County Flood Relief Fund efforts, raising an impressive $60 million in response to the devastating July 4th weekend flood along the Guadalupe River in central Texas. The flood resulted in the loss of at least 135 lives, including 37 children

To date, the CFTHC has distributed $8.8 million to support disaster relief and humanitarian aid. The funding allocations include $1 million to local churches and aid groups providing emergency financial assistance to area residents. Additionally, $3.25 million has been awarded to organisations such as the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce to support local businesses. Over $2 million has been allocated to the region’s volunteer fire departments and other organisations supporting first responders. Furthermore, more than $1.3 million has been directed towards medical, mental health, and reunification services.

The Ingram Independent School District also received $1.25 million to fund repairs and rebuilding efforts. According to CFTHC chief executive Austin Dickson, “The outpouring of generosity and love for our community continues to astound us. Every new donation is a testament to the compassion pouring in from Texas and across the country.” These funds will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the community’s recovery and rebuilding process.
