When a spouse or family member passes away, many people cry and feel sad, but Margaret claims that she felt ecstatic and thrilled when her husband passed away. She said that the spouse had abused her and severely beaten her. Her marriage didn’t bring her happiness.
Her upbringing was spent in Nyandarua County. She had financial difficulties. Therefore, she did not enrol in high school after completing her elementary schooling. She was hired in Naivasha town as a housekeeper, where she eventually met her husband and tied the knot at the age of fifteen.
Her husband began verbally abusing her and physically abusing her after she gave birth to their first child.
After giving birth, he didn’t give her time to recover. He stopped showing up for work and turned into a professional alcoholic. He also ceased supporting the family.
Margaret was a mother of five children already. She began taking on odd jobs to pay her rent and buy groceries. Her spouse would still treat her badly; he hadn’t changed. Despite her repeated attempts to end the marriage, her husband would track her down and threaten to kill her if she refused to let him move in with them.
Because she was under a lot of stress, she would pray nonstop for her husband to pass away so she could live in peace. He could not eat anything she offered him, and they had ceased communicating. Two days later, she questioned whether she was sick, but he didn’t reply.
She left the next day and reported to work as normal. Her landlady called her at around 1:00 pm. She arrived to discover police officers. She found her spouse dead when they opened the door. It was determined following a postmortem that he had died from liver illness.
Margaret claimed that despite all the suffering he had caused her, she was content and didn’t even go to his funeral. In her marriage, she has never felt content. She has encouraged couples to coexist in harmony.
