The Dorcas Cancer Foundation has successfully raised funds for the treatment of an 8-year-old boy, Matthew Omotosho, diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer, through the Giv.ng digital fundraising platform. The Foundation turned to technology to accelerate access to urgently needed resources for Matthew’s surgery.
According to Dr Adedayo Joseph, Lead Advocate at TDCF and an oncologist, “Working with Giv.ng was a game changer. As a doctor and advocate, it’s not just about raising funds; it’s about telling stories with dignity and impact. The Giv.ng team understood that from day one. Their support gave us more than visibility; it gave our patient hope.”
The partnership with Giv.ng proved to be a turning point, allowing the Foundation to mobilise widespread support from Nigerians at home and abroad in record time. Mr Korede Akindele, a cancer advocate and member of the Foundation, noted that the partnership helped extend their reach and engage a broader audience
“At TDCF, we are deeply committed to saving lives and supporting children with cancer across Nigeria. Partnering with Giv.ng has allowed us to reach wider audiences, raise critical funds, and share stories that move people to action,” Akindele said.
Matthew underwent a successful surgery and is now on the path to recovery. The Foundation said his story demonstrates the impact of digital fundraising tools and the generosity of Nigerians when trust and transparency are assured
