No faction exists inside the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as former Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom, the party’s leader in the state, has reaffirmed.

This was revealed by Ortom on Sunday when Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, a candidate for the PDP’s North Central Zonal Chairmanship, visited him to ask for his approval before the party’s upcoming zonal convention.

The former governor adamantly declared that Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, who was elected by a unanimous vote at the most recent state congress, continues to lead the PDP in Benue State. He cautioned that the security agencies should take anyone claiming to be in charge of a parallel organization outside of the Adaji-led leadership as a fake.

“As far as the PDP in Benue is concerned, we have a duly elected leadership under Ezekiel Adaji. Any person or group parading themselves outside of this is misleading the public and should be apprehended,” Ortom said.

Speaking at the anticipated North Central Zonal Congress in Jos, Plateau State, Ortom stated that he expects a free, fair, and transparent process, pointing out that the PDP is renowned for respecting the rule of law and due process.

Prior to this, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed recognized Ortom’s crucial contribution as governor, especially in his rise to become the party’s Deputy National Auditor. If elected, he promised to try to fortify the PDP in the area.

Abdulrahman and the FCT branch of the PDP, under the direction of its chairman, Ismaila Mohammed Dogara, also took advantage of the visit to offer Ortom their condolences on the passing of his younger brother, Mr. Bernard Ortom.

Leading party officials, including Barr. Michael Gusa, Sarwuan Tarnnongo, James Anbua, Terver Akase, Joseph Odaudu, Abrahams Kwaghngu, and Adzer Abya, were present when Ortom welcomed the delegation.

Azua Ashongo, Abraham Waroh, Patrick Modom, Barr. Clement Mue, Frank Kyungun, and Col. Paul Hemba (Rtd) were also in attendance.
