German authorities arrested three Chinese nationals on suspicion of smuggling sex workers on Wednesday.
This comes after 150 officers raided a brothel, residences, and stores in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Hesse.
The three suspects, who were also charged with tax evasion, were arrested in Wiesbaden, according to the public prosecutor’s office.
One guy and two women, ages 49, 61, and 29, were arrested.
“They are strongly suspected of having employed and harboured numerous women from China as prostitutes between February 2020 and December 2024, although they did not have residence permits authorising them to work in Germany,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
According to NAN, the 49-year-old is accused of assisting in attracting clients, while the 61-year-old and the 29-year-old are suspected of operating the brothel together.
