Three lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly Victor Oko-Jumbo, Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Adolphus Timothy Oruibienimigha were noticeably missing during the legislative session held on Thursday.
This meeting marked the Assembly’s first plenary since President Bola Tinubu ended the state of emergency declared in Rivers State.
Due to ongoing reconstruction of the State Assembly Complex damaged in an explosion that occurred on October 29, 2023 the plenary was conducted at the Assembly quarters.
The absent legislators are the only ones who remained aligned with Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the height of the political standoff in the state.
There is still uncertainty over whether the disagreement between the 27 lawmakers backing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the three legislators loyal to Governor Fubara has been entirely resolved through the reconciliation process.
Interestingly, two of the missing lawmakers, Oko-Jumbo and Sokari, were spotted earlier at a gathering held outside the Government House, where residents had assembled to celebrate and welcome the governor.
