Former French international Louis Saha has urged Manchester United to consider replacing under-fire goalkeeper Andre Onana with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
Saha, speaking during an interview with Coin Poker, expressed his belief that Martinez would be a perfect fit for the team, describing the Argentine as one of the top goalkeepers globally.
He emphasized that Martinez embodies the type of strong personality needed to restore confidence in the Manchester United backline.
As quoted by Goal, Onana said, “Every top side needs a top class goalkeeper. Emi Martinez has been voted the best in the world for two years.
“…Those are the players United need. ..They need great performers like United used to have.”
“Martinez…is one of the best in the world. He’s also the kind of character that gives a side confidence…”
Andre Onana, who made the move from Inter Milan to Old Trafford last season, has struggled to win over supporters and critics alike with his performances. His inconsistent form has fueled speculation that the club may be open to parting ways with the Cameroon international during the summer transfer window.
