Super Falcons forward Gift Monday is on the verge of completing a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) club Washington Spirit.

Monday had signed a new three-year contract with Spanish Liga F side UD Tenerife last September but is now set to leave the club. According to Spanish news outlet MARCA, Washington Spirit have already made an offer to Tenerife for the player.

The striker has a €200,000 release clause in her contract, but Tenerife is reportedly seeking a higher fee for her transfer.

Monday has been in excellent form this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists in 19 league appearances. She was also named Liga F Player of the Month in February.

The 23-year-old joined Tenerife from Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) side FC Robo Queens in 2022.
