The Educare Foundation has awarded grants to support innovative projects in the Mankato Area Public Schools. For the 2025-26 school year, the foundation approved $44,952 in Educare Initiative Grants and $15,987 in Ed Waltman Mini Grants.
The projects funded include a student-run school store at Mankato West High School, which received $11,882 to sell high-quality apparel and provide students with valuable career and leadership skills. Another project is the creation of a sensory room at Monroe Elementary, which received $3,319 to support students’ emotional regulation and sensory needs
The foundation also funded agriculture learning opportunities, which will bring real-world experiences to a district camp, providing approximately 500 kindergarten through 5th-grade students with hands-on activities during Camp Ignite in July. Other projects will focus on upgrading technology to enhance student learning.
Superintendent Paul Peterson praised the quality of grant proposals, saying, “The ones that are being announced are in perfect alignment with what Educare’s mission is, and for us as a future-focused school district, really matches up nicely with where we see education going here in our future.” The Educare Foundation has provided significant financial support to the district, aligning with its mission to enhance educational opportunities
