On Monday, March 31, U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester joined fellow Americans in celebrating the 2025 Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV).
In a post on her official X account, the lawmaker denounced what she described as “transphobic hate” and affirmed that “trans rights are human rights.”
She wrote, “I joined everyone celebrating Trans Day Of Visibility today’!
“It is more important than ever that we not only stand up to transphobic hate, but that we do all we can to create more safe and inclusive communities for all.
“Today and every day, trans rights are human rights”.
Monday marked TDOV, an observance dedicated to honoring transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals, while also drawing attention to the significant discrimination and violence faced by the community.
The 2025 TDOV came on the heels of recent executive orders by President Donald Trump that restricted the rights of transgender Americans, particularly in areas such as military service, participation in school sports, and access to certain government documentation.
