Trump orders US to exit from World Health Organization, gives reason

The United States has been forced to leave the World Health Organization by US President Donald Trump, who stared the organization handled the COVID-19 epidemic and other global health emergencies poorly.

Trump issued the directive just hours after his inauguration on Monday, claiming that the WHO had not acted without the improper political influence of its member states and that the U.S. was being asked to make unjustly burdensome payments that were out of proportion to the amounts contributed by other, bigger nations, like China.

“World Health ripped us off, everybody rips off the United States. It’s not going to happen anymore,” Trump said.

According to treports, the action means that the United States will no longer fund the United Nations health organization and would withdraw from it within a year.

Numerous experts, both inside and outside the WHO, believe that the U.S. withdrawal will probably jeopardize programs throughout the organization.

According to Trump’s directive, the administration would halt WHO pandemic treaty negotiations while the withdrawal was underway.

In accordance with the executive order that Trump signed, the administration will seek partners to assume necessary WHO activities and recall and reassign U.S. federal employees who are working with the WHO.

In 2020, during his first term as president, Trump took action to resign from the organization after stating that the WHO was supporting China’s attempts to mislead the world about the origins of COVID.

WHO, however, vehemently refuted the accusation, stating that it is still pressing Beijing to provide information to ascertain if COVID originated from domestic laboratory research on related viruses or from human contact with infected animals.
