US President Donald Trump threatened to use force against Nigeria last week due to concerns about terrorism and claimed religious persecution.
Following Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, CPC, the development occurred.
Trump’s comments, which are perceived as confrontational and neo-imperialist in Nigeria, have caused conflicting responses both domestically and internationally.
According to ZINGTIE, the threat caused a diplomatic rift between Nigeria and the United States of America and caused panic and conflicting reactions among Nigerians.
Nigeria’s security architecture, meanwhile, has increased counterterrorism operations and strengthened its assault on terrorist hideouts throughout the nation, demonstrating that it is not taking the threat lightly, according to ZINGTIE’s findings.
According to a ZINGTIE check on the Nigerian Army’s headquarters’ official Facebook page, the military conducted at least six consecutive operations to drive terrorists out of the country’s main regions.
The following is a list of some military operations:
The military said Tuesday that its soldiers from Operation Whirl Stroke, or OPWS, had stopped a kidnapping attempt and freed ten people from armed kidnappers on Benue State’s Zaki-Biam–Wukari road.
Authorities said the rescue came after reliable information on November 3, 2025, that the kidnappers, dressed as police officers, had set up a roadblock to trick unwary visitors.
Two more victims are still unaccounted for as search efforts continue, however Warrant Officer John Richard of 6 Brigade Band, Jalingo, was one of those saved.
Additionally, the army reported that early on Tuesday morning, its soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai, or OPHK, successfully repelled a coordinated Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on the Forward Operating Base, FOB, Kangar, located in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
It said that the terrorists targeted the base’s defensive positions using armed drones and mortar bombs to begin the attack.
It claimed that after a fierce firefight, the troops—bolstered by Sector 3 and assisted by Nigerien fighter aircraft—overcame the rebels in spite of the fierce assault.
Weapons, drone bombs, ammunition, and grenades were found at the scene, and six terrorists were verified dead.
In a similar vein, Nigerian Army soldiers killed 19 attackers in a heavy battle after stopping a bandit incursion in Kano State’s Shanono Local Government Area.
On November 1, 2025, the army assaulted the bandits at Ungwan Tudu and nearby villages in response to intelligence reports.
Armed criminals on motorbikes were confronted by the army, backed by other security services, who forced them to flee after suffering significant casualties.
However, the incident resulted in the deaths of two troops and a local vigilante, while numerous motorcycles and cell phones were found.
During a clearance operation in Kogi State, soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade reported that they had freed two abducted individuals and retrieved N3.8 million in ransom money.
The military revealed that on November 2, 2025, it received reliable information of ongoing kidnappings in the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule axis, which prompted the intervention.
On their way to Achigili Forest, the kidnappers were forced to flee with bullet wounds after the military engaged them in a gunfight.
Before being turned over to the appropriate authorities, the rescued individuals had a debriefing and were held in secure custody.
Between October 25 and October 31, 2025, soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai, or OPHK, effectively put down a number of terrorist attacks and stopped attempts to infiltrate villages in Borno and Adamawa States.
In addition to retrieving weapons and ammunition, the military reported eliminating rebels in the Kukawa, Gwoza, and Limankara regions.
In one operation, soldiers stopped smuggled fuel and weapons in Adamawa and detonated a vehicle-borne bomb device in Kukawa.
Five alleged collaborators were also taken into custody by troops during a cordon-and-search operation in the Madagali Local Government Area.
Additionally, on November 2, Nigerian Army troops conducted simultaneous operations throughout the nation in less than 48 hours, neutralizing terrorists, rescuing 17 abducted victims, and apprehending 20 suspects.
Targeting terrorist strongholds, kidnappers, and illegal oil refineries, the raids were carried out in the North East, North West, North Central, and South-South districts.
While Operation Whirl Stroke and Enduring Peace apprehended 15 suspects and freed four victims in Benue and Plateau, 1 Brigade troops in Zamfara freed 11 kidnapped individuals.
Additionally, troops in Bayelsa and Imo destroyed illegal oil refinery camps and retrieved equipment and stolen crude.
Operation Whirl Stroke, or OPWS, forces in Benue stormed a suspected cultists’ hideout in Makurdi’s North Bank neighborhood, apprehending seven suspects and seizing weapons, ammo, and charms.
According to the military, the operation was carried out on October 30, 2025, as part of an effort to combat the rise in violence associated with cults.
Ammunition rounds, bags of charms, a laptop, a cartridge, and two locally manufactured firearms were among the recovered items.
The suspects will be turned over to the proper authorities for prosecution after completing their interview.
John Usanga, the deputy spokesperson for the League of African Ambassadors, stated on Tuesday that the focus should be on less evident causes of recent murders, such as land confiscation and forced relocation, rather than religious and racial ones.
Speaking on Arise Television, Usanga said that the violence reflected attempts to grab territory and evict communities, and asked stakeholders to focus on the underlying problems rather than polarising the nation.
He characterized the war against terrorism and banditry as a guerrilla-style conflict that is challenging to combat with traditional military tactics, pointing out that offenders attack swiftly and blend in with the populace.
He said: “It should be of concern to all parties, concerned that people are being killed.
“And let me tell you this, we are looking at the religious angle and the ethnicity angle in this whole thing, we are forgetting that this thing is also indicative of people taking territories, dislodging people from their lands, and taking over their lands, either for whatever reason.
“So we should focus more on what is not too obvious than what would divide us, and then see how we can, you know, eliminate this problem.
“The fight against terrorism, banditry is not a regular war. You know, Nigeria is very competent when it comes to regular war. We’ve gone to deliver some countries out of problems, regular military problems. I’m not a military personnel.
“But this war is not a war that you can really pinpoint to a position or this one, declaring that this is this. No, this is a war that people just come, guerrilla war, strike and disappear.
“If you have to try to eliminate these people, you have to take into consideration the collateral damage that could result, because these people also mingle with the general population.
“Are you going to take out the whole population? Because you want to fish out the terrorists, which is what I think the idea that President Trump is, you know, kind of cooking.”
