Sylvanus Nwankwo, the minority leader and member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing the Omuma state constituency, and his colleague Peter Abbey, who represents the Degema Constituency, have reversed course in the current scheme to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.
The two asked the State Assembly to reevaluate its action during a press conference in Port Harcourt on Monday.
They claim that the ruling came after “our elders and leaders” pleaded for forgiveness.
They said, “Rivers State issued a notice of impeachment on Governor Fubara and his Deputy. We appeal to our fellow colleagues to temper justice with mercy and see how we can solve this matter without the impeachment proceedings.
“Having listened to so many calls from our elders and leaders, both within and outside the state, we are begging our colleagues to reconsider our steps and see how this matter can be resolved amicably even though the governor and his deputy have infringed on the Constitution”.
According to ZINGTIE, the Governor and his Deputy received an impeachment notification on Thursday of last week because to alleged egregious misbehavior.
