The University of California, Merced (UC Merced) has secured a $5 million donation from the Campos Foundation to advance student athletics and STEM education.
The funding will contribute to the construction of a new track and field facility, which will be named Campos Field in recognition of the foundation’s generosity. The facility will serve as a central feature of UC Merced’s planned athletics complex
In addition, part of the gift will be used to create a scholarship endowment for both STEM students and STEM scholar-athletes, ensuring sustained support for academic and athletic excellence.
Deanna Campos-Miller, president of the Campos Foundation, said the partnership aligns with the foundation’s mission. “The Campos Foundation’s mission is to elevate under-represented minority and female students through STEM education initiatives, and we are delighted to partner with UC Merced in supporting future generations of scientific and engineering leaders as well as promising scholar-athletes.
