The Nigerian government’s plea to send former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu back to Nigeria to finish his prison term was denied by the United Kingdom.

According to ZINGTIE, Ekweremadu was convicted in 2023 of conspiring to harvest a young man’s kidney and is currently incarcerated in a UK institution.

After being found guilty in a high-profile organ trafficking case that garnered international attention, he was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison.

According to the most recent ruling, Ekweremadu will continue to serve out the balance of his sentence in the UK.
