A drone strike carried out by Ukrainian forces on Wednesday sparked a fire at an industrial facility in Murom, a Russian city located roughly 300 kilometers from Moscow.
Russian Telegram outlet Astra, citing eyewitness accounts, reported that the attack appeared to target a plant responsible for producing ignition systems.
Aleksandr Avdeyev, Governor of the Vladimir region, posted on Telegram that the fire was confined to a storage building.
He stated that the blaze, which has since been brought under control, was caused by drones falling onto the site.
The Russian Defence Ministry announced that 34 drones launched by Ukraine were intercepted overnight, with three of those downed in the Vladimir region.
Ukraine has been fending off Russia’s full-scale invasion for more than three years, aided by support from Western nations.
In retaliation, Kyiv has repeatedly launched attacks on various locations within Russian territory.
Although these Ukrainian operations have led to some destruction and loss of life, their overall impact is significantly smaller compared to the extensive devastation and civilian suffering inflicted by Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine.
