The announcement was made following the university’s 304th Senate meeting, where the appointments were approved. Mr. Oloyede, a former vice-chancellor of the university and current registrar and CEO of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), retired from the university’s service in October 2024.

These appointments honor the retirees’ lasting impact on the academic community and their respective fields of expertise. The university celebrates their achievements and contributions to the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Abdulkareem Age, congratulated the new emeritus professors, saying, “This recognition is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic excellence.”

Professor Age added, “We are proud to have had them as part of our academic community, and we look forward to their continued contributions to the university.”

The new emeritus professors will be formally inaugurated at a later date, and they will continue to contribute to the university’s academic activities, providing guidance and mentorship to younger scholars.
