University Achieves Full Accreditation for Four Programmes by NUC; See list

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to four academic programs at Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Benin City. The accredited programs include law, medicine, anatomy, and postgraduate studies.

BIU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Okhuoya, described the development as a major boost to the university’s academic standing. “The NUC accreditation validates our alignment with global educational standards and reaffirms our capacity to produce graduates who are professionally competent and ready to solve real-world problems,” he said

The accreditation follows a comprehensive evaluation by the NUC, assessing the university’s infrastructure, teaching quality, curriculum standards, and research capacity. Okhuoya noted that the success reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and ethical leadership.

The accredited programs are structured to blend theory with practice, ensuring that graduates are not only employable but can lead in their fields. BIU plans to launch new interdisciplinary programs and deepen international collaborations to promote student exchange and innovation.
