In a new video, an armed terrorist gang claims to be responsible for the recent kidnappings of students in the states of Kebbi and Niger. They also threaten to assault military and political officials in the future.

The video, which surfaced on Monday and has since gone viral on social media, features an armed guy bragging in Hausa that the gang will soon start attacking politicians and military officials, claiming that the government “cannot stop” their activities.

The video, which depicts the person flanked by other armed guys, has sparked a lot of conjecture online, with people wondering about the terrorists’ audacity and increasing self-assurance.

According to ZINGTIE, the threatening video surfaced just one week after over 300 students and twelve teachers were taken from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger State, and 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.

As villages around the North continue to struggle with increasing attacks by bandits and other armed organizations, the video has increased public worry.

According to security experts, the film illustrates both the worsening state of security and the growing chutzpah of terrorists who operate with no deterrence.

Many Nigerians voiced their indignation and concern over the nation’s growing insecurity in comments on X following the video.

“This kind of boast shouldn’t even be possible in a functioning country. How did we get here?” @TaraBlinz said.

Another user, @justkency, stated, “The current state of Nigeria. Criminals are now emboldened enough to issue statements.”

Also reacting, @n95ly wrote, “Government officials should be the ones facing this. Leave innocent citizens out of it.”
