Dr. Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has responded firmly to the criticism that has followed his administration’s success, particularly the comments made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.
The actress publicly supported Orji Uzor Kalu, a current senator and former governor of Abia, who recently accused Otti of showcasing finished projects that were actually constructed during his administration.
Ogala maintained that Kalu’s assertions were true in a now-viral video.
She claims that the roads that Otti’s administration is currently showcasing were first built under the tenure of the current senator.
She said: “What my boss, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, said about Governor Alex Otti is true. Alex Otti is only repainting roads that were originally built by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.”
Speaking at a recent public event, Governor Otti addressed the matter and advised Abians not to let “baseless chatter” divert them.
He said that critics were making a concerted effort to divert attention from his ongoing reforms, saying:
“I want us to just dismiss it as noise, you know, and it’s always the empty barrel that makes the loudest noise. They are a tiny minority; God doesn’t make mistakes, and he doesn’t have an unfinished project. So, I don’t want anybody to lose breath or worry about it.”
Otti went on to say that those criticizing his government are out of touch with realities on the ground and are trying to sabotage the administration’s advancements.
