A discreet investogation into the fight between members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force in Osogbo, Osun State, was ordered by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun on Saturday.
A widely shared video of a public altercation between two security agency agents prompted the decision.
ZINGTIE has previously reported that on Tuesday and Wednesday, there was a confrontation at Elizabeth Estate, Osogbo, between police and NSCDC soldiers.
Following the event, the NSCDC staff were taken into custody by the Osun State Police Command.
In response, the IGP, who was offended by the lack of professionalism and the open demonstration of contradiction, directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Osogbo, to conduct a discreet investigation into the root cause of the matter.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, made the directive public in a statement on Saturday.
“Under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Force would continuously work in collaboration with relevant sister security agencies towards ensuring we achieve a safe and secure environment for our dear country Nigeria,” he said, after the IGP urged calm.
