VIDEO: Yahoo boy boldly shows how he uses juju to lock client with just a picture

A startling video of a self-described Yahoo guy (an online scammer) candidly disclosing how he manipulates his victims with juju (traditional charms) has gone viral.

The young man in the viral video seemed unconcerned as he used only her photo to show how to “lock” a client. He claims that after the procedure is completed, the victim is spiritually bound and unable to refuse to provide money whenever he requests it.

Many have been taken aback by the fraudster’s audacity as well as the deed itself. He made no effort to conceal his identify or cover his face. Rather, he boasted about his “powers” while holding the woman’s photo, displaying the technique as if it were commonplace.

Online responses to this video have been conflicting. Some social media users voiced their anxiety, cautioning others—women in particular—about the dangers of exchanging private information and images with strangers they meet online. The growing trend of young males resorting to cybercrime and combining it with spiritual manipulation was denounced by others.

Regretfully, these kinds of statements have been made before. Ritual practices have previously been connected to online fraud in a number of publications. Young males have occasionally been found in possession of fetish objects, shrines, and charms that are purportedly used to manipulate their customers. For instance, authorities in Osun State detained suspected fraudsters a few years ago who were in possession of juju materials allegedly linked to money rituals.

According to experts, even though some of these practices may be motivated by fear and belief, they can still have a significant psychological impact on victims. Many victims may comply with fraudsters’ demands out of fear of supernatural repercussions after becoming convinced they are under spiritual control.

Now, the startling footage serves as just another warning of the extent to which online scammers will go. Authorities have persisted in advising the public to exercise caution when disclosing personal information and to refrain from sending confidential documents, bank account information, or photos to strangers online.

Many Nigerians are advocating for tougher enforcement and public awareness campaigns to safeguard potential victims as cybercrime and ritual activities become more entwined.
