According to reports, Burna Boy, a Nigerian music sensation, offered to perform for free in Burkina Faso, but Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the country’s leader, declined.

Burna Boy had suggested the concert through his secondary Instagram account, saying he wanted to play for the Burkina Faso people for free, according to reports from the Burkina Faso-based media site Trulilgram on Instagram.

“If possible, it would be an honor for me to give the people of Burkina Faso a free Burna Boy concert sometime this year, Insha Allah,” the singer reportedly wrote.

According to reports, President Traoré graciously turned down the invitation, stating that his nation is now focused on more important matters and cannot afford to be sidetracked.

According to Trulilgram, the people supported the Burkinabè government’s position, indicating that although they valued Burna Boy’s kindness, their primary concerns are still maintaining national unity and safeguarding the nation’s leaders.

“President Ibrahim Traoré said he appreciates the love but doesn’t need distractions in Burkina Faso,” the platform wrote. “And the people of Burkina Faso reportedly said Burna Boy should take the concert somewhere else, as they need to focus on their goal to protect their president.”

Online debate has been triggered by the news, with some people applauding Burna Boy’s generosity and others endorsing the government’s choice to put the country’s interests ahead of entertainment events.
