Controversial U.S. rapper Cardi B has stated that she doesn’t seek out drama or controversy, but it often surrounds her because of who she is.

The rapper recently stirred public attention after revealing her pregnancy with NFL player Stefon Diggs, even as her divorce proceedings with her husband, fellow rapper Offset, remain ongoing. She claimed that the media is intentionally targeting her.

Despite distancing herself from controversy, Cardi B acknowledged that her bold personality and strong presence often contribute to the drama that follows her.

“I didn’t think I was that much drama. When I was in high school and I was voted most dramatic in my high school yearbook, I was surprised. I don’t like drama, it just follows me. Sometimes, certain things just followed certain people,” Cardi B tells CBS.

“When you have like a big personality like me or when you have a mouth like me or whatever aura that I give, it [drama] will follow you because it makes you like an easier target. I don’t like drama. It stresses me.”
