England captain Harry Kane has attributed his team’s 3-1 loss to Senegal in Tuesday’s international friendly to an overall lackluster performance from the squad.

Speaking after the match, the Bayern Munich forward acknowledged that both offensively and defensively, the Three Lions failed to find their rhythm during the game, which was held at City Ground.

Kane had given England an early advantage by scoring in the seventh minute, but Senegal responded with goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra, and Cheikh Sabaly to seal a historic win for the West African side.

The result marked the first time England has ever been defeated by an African nation.

“Not good enough. We had moments, but with and without the ball things aren’t clicking, we’re not finding the right tempo,” Kane said during his post-match interview.

“We have lost that aggressive nature that we had.”

The striker stressed that England must quickly address their shortcomings if they hope to be genuine contenders at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following their latest disappointing outing.
