The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike, has given the go-ahead for the formation of Vetting Teams aimed at expediting the regularization of land allocations made by the six Area Councils within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Chijioke Nwankwoeze, the FCT’s Director of Land Administration, announced this development while formally launching the Vetting Teams at his office.
He emphasized that the Minister’s approval included precise instructions, objectives, and guidelines to ensure that the vetting process is carried out efficiently and concluded within a practical time frame.
Nwankwoeze explained that the initiative is designed to tackle longstanding issues surrounding the titling of plots in Mass Housing projects.
With this measure in place, he noted, individuals who have purchased units under various Mass Housing Schemes will now be formally recognized and issued land titles for their respective homes.
He further stated that the government has put in place mechanisms to resolve all persistent challenges linked to land allocation regularization and the titling of already delivered homes within the Area Councils.
According to Nwankwoeze, the creation of these Vetting Teams marks a significant move to clean up the land administration system and rebuild public trust in the management of FCT land assets, highlighting the Minister’s strong resolve to see the process through to completion.
He described the teams as a decisive and non-reversible action toward reforming land governance in the territory.
The Director urged both developers and potential land title recipients to support the initiative, assuring them that the FCTA remains fully committed to delivering quality service to developers, current titleholders, and those in the process of obtaining titles aligning with the broader goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
