Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), gave 80 vehicles to young people in the capital on Thursday.
Wike emphasised the Federal Government’s dedication to enhancing the lives of FCT youth through the Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Initiative while speaking at the flag-off exercise, which concludes the minister’s nine days of project flag-offs.
He claimed that the 30 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), 30 seven-seat Suzuki Minibuses, and 20 14-seat Hiace buses will lower transport costs in the Federal Capital Territory and create job possibilities for young people.
The minister went on to say that the government was giving the beneficiaries from all six local councils in the FCT free access to the brand-new cars so they could earn a living.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to make use of the vehicles for the intended utility.
The FCT Minister said: “These are brand new vehicles, and they are not paying a dime. We are not saying pay the government any money. The government is saying this is our own support to make sure you have something to feed, to make sure you can support your family, and also to reduce the cost of transportation in the city.”
