According to Lere Olayinka, Special Adviser on Public Communication to Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the party is still plagued by anti-party sentiment planted by former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
According to Olayinka, Atiku planted the seeds of anti-party sentiment in 2003, 2007, and 2014; he claimed that this condition still plagues the PDP today.
He was responding to accusations that Wike was engaged in anti-party actions made by Paul Ibe, Atiku’s media assistant.
Ibe claimed that the PDP’s letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, on the recent South South Zonal Congress demonstrated how President Bola Tinubu is using the FCT minister to dismantle the main opposition party.
The PDP canceled the South South Zonal Congress “due to operational constraints” in a February 2025 letter to the chairman of INEC.
INEC would be duly informed about a new date and site, according to the letter signed by Secretary Sunday Ude-Okoye and Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum.
According to ZINGTIE, Wike and his team held the Zonal Congress in spite of the letter, and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke was there.
During the Congress, Dan Orbih, the vice chairman of the PDP South South Zonal, was reelected.
Ibe said, referring to the letter that Wike and his associates purposefully orchestrated the Congress to “create a crisis to serve the interest of his paymasters”.
Olayinka denounced Ibeh’s comments and advised Atiku’s supporters to refrain from “masturbating on @GovWike this, Wike that” and from spreading the false information that their principle is seeking reelection.
Speaking to Atiku’s followers, Olayinka stated: “Better tell your serial presidential election contester and loser to go and rest.
“The seed of anti-party your @atiku sowed in the @OfficialPDPNig in 2003, 2007 and 2014 is still hunting the party till today.
“By the way, did you bother to check the date this letter was written and the date it was received by INEC?
“Letter that took 5 days to trek from Wadata Plaza to INEC office and was received 3 days after the Congress was held is what you are celebrating here.
“I pray that very soon, those “Atiku is Coming” people who are feeding from @atiku’s elusive presidential ambition will have the conscience to say the truth and tell the former VP that he lost the opportunity to be the President of Nigeria to his 2003, 2007 and 2014 rebellions against the @OfficialPDPNig.
“Rather than their masturbation on @GovWike this, Wike that, they should fear God and stop their ATIKU IS COMING deceit.
“It is time for Daddy to rest now and let the PDP breathe. DAZZOL.”
