‘Your cowardice damaged Nigeria’ – DJ switch fires back at Joe Igbokwe

Nigerian disc jockey and activist, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, popularly known as DJ Switch, has issued a sharp response to APC stalwart Joe Igbokwe, following his criticism of her comments on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari died in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after battling a long-term illness.

Reacting to the news, DJ Switch posted on her Instagram page: “Wow! The sweet reality of inevitability. RIP MF. One down.”

In reaction, Joe Igbokwe took to Facebook to condemn her remarks. He accused DJ Switch of having previously contributed to national unrest through her statements and claimed she was mentally unstable.

He wrote, “So the ugly and nauseating lady is still talking. She has not realized the damage she did to Nigeria with her utterance. This lady needs help. She must have gone kolos.”

DJ Switch, in a fiery reply, called out Igbokwe for being disconnected from the everyday hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians.

She criticized him for defending an administration she believes inflicted harm on the country’s youth and accused him of being cowardly for targeting individuals like herself whom she described as survivors while turning a blind eye to broader issues of injustice.

Dj switch wrote, “The only thing more embarrassing than your spelling is thinking silence in the face of murder, hardship and injustice is dignity. We faced bullets for justice. What did you ever face besides spell check and senility?

“You watched a government murder its youth and your only outrage is that I lived to tell the story? You think my utterance damaged Nigeria? No grandpa! your silence did your cowardice did!.

“You are defending killers but attacking survivors, don’t worry history is writing your name in the footnotes under failure Imagine being so useless to justice that the voice of a woman surviving Nigeria threatens your whole existence”.
